In one paragraph
Nescanner is a document scanner for iPhone and iPad that does all its work on the device. Point the camera at a page and tap once: the app straightens the shot, evens out the light and saves a sharp PDF with searchable text. No account, no cloud, no ads.
Longer description
Nescanner turns the iPhone or iPad camera into a document scanner. It finds the page edges, straightens the shot into a flat rectangle and removes shadows from the hand or the phone, so the paper comes out evenly white. Text stays crisp, while photos, colour print and highlights on the page keep their colours. Book pages that curve towards the spine come out flat, and the letters are never redrawn. In batch mode you hold the phone over a book and turn the pages, and each page is captured by itself. Text is recognised on the device and added to the PDF, so it can be searched and copied. Nothing is uploaded: there is no sign-in, no server and no analytics. The app is free for up to 30 pages a day.

Key features
- Photo to scan. Straight pages, even light and white paper from a single tap.
- Book pages. Pages curved towards the spine come out flat, with straight lines of text.
- Batch mode. Turn the pages of a book, and each page is taken as soon as it is still, never twice.
- Searchable PDF. All pages in one PDF with a text layer recognised on the device.
- RAW capture. Uses Apple ProRAW where available; in dim light other models combine several frames to remove grain.
What makes it different
- No black-and-white filter. Most scanner apps turn every pixel black or white and sharpen the result. That breaks thin strokes and adds halos around letters. Nescanner keeps the soft edge of each stroke.
- The photo is resampled only once. Straightening, scaling and cropping are combined into one step, so fine print does not lose detail along the way.
- Measured, not guessed. Every processing step was tuned on a test bench of about a hundred real pages, with text recognition error, edge sharpness, halos and paper noise measured for each change.
