A private document scanner for sensitive papers
Contracts, medical records, tax forms, payslips, IDs. Nescanner scans them into clean PDFs on your iPhone or iPad and never sends them anywhere. There is no account to create and no server to upload to.
Why it matters what your scanner does
Many scanner apps ask you to sign in and upload every page to their cloud, where it is processed, stored and sometimes used to improve their service. For a shopping list that may not matter. For a medical report, an employment contract or a tax return it does. Once a copy sits on someone else’s server, you no longer control who can see it or how long it stays there.
What Nescanner does instead
- No account. You open the app and scan. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No servers of ours. Straightening, light correction and text recognition all run on your device. The only network traffic is the App Store checking a Nescanner Pro subscription with Apple.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. The app contains no analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
- Pages do not pile up. Pages of the document in progress are kept in the app’s own folder and cleared the next time Nescanner starts.
- You decide where the file goes. Export opens the iOS share sheet: save the PDF to Files, send it by AirDrop or Mail, or nowhere at all.
Step by step
- Lay the page flat on a table, with a bit of table around it.
- Choose Document for printed pages and forms, Picture for pages with photos you want to keep in their original colours.
- Tap the shutter once per page. A multi-page contract goes into one document.
- Tap the stack of pages to check them: reorder, delete or adjust corners.
- Export one PDF with searchable text, or a single page as JPEG or PDF.
Readable, searchable, unchanged
The page is straightened and evenly lit, and the text is recognised on the device and added to the PDF, so you can search and copy it. Letters are never redrawn or guessed: what is in the scan was on the paper. That matters when the exact wording or a number counts.
What stays up to you
After export, the file lives wherever you put it. If you save it to iCloud Drive or send it by email, those services handle it from then on. To keep a scan only on the device, choose On My iPhone (or On My iPad) in Files. Nescanner does not lock files with its own password; your device passcode and Face ID protect them as they do everything else.
Questions
Does Nescanner upload my documents?
No. There is no server of ours to upload to. Scanning, processing and text recognition happen on your iPhone or iPad.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in of any kind. A Nescanner Pro subscription goes through your Apple Account in the App Store, and the app only learns whether it is active.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Scanning, processing and export all work without internet, for example in airplane mode.
Where are my scans stored?
While you scan, pages are kept in the app’s own folder and cleared the next time the app starts. After export, the file is wherever you saved or sent it.
How much does it cost?
Free for up to 30 exported pages a day, every feature at full quality. Nescanner Pro removes the limit: US$1.99 a month or US$14.99 a year.
