Document or Picture?

Document makes the paper white and the text crisp. Use it for printed pages, contracts and receipts. Picture straightens the page but keeps its original colours. Use it for covers, artwork and magazines.

Step by step

1. Open Nescanner and use the import menu to choose Photos or Files.
2. Select one or several images of documents. Each image is processed into a separate page; check the page edges and order before exporting.
3. In the document, tap the page. Drag the corners to the edges of the paper and tap Done. The page is processed again.
4. Tap the stack of pages next to the shutter to open the document, then tap the export button. Nescanner builds one PDF of all pages and opens the share sheet: choose Save to Files, AirDrop, Mail or any other app.

Export before you close the app. The document in progress is cleared the next time Nescanner starts.

Which export quality should I choose?

Open the ••• menu in the document. Low gives the smallest file, good for email. Medium is a balance for everyday use. High keeps full detail for archiving and printing.

Can I search the text in the PDF?

Yes. Nescanner recognises the text on each page on your device and adds it to the PDF as an invisible layer. Search and copy work in Files, Preview, Acrobat and other PDF viewers.

Limits of photo import

Import accepts images, not existing PDF documents. Use the original photo when possible: processing cannot recover text lost to blur, glare or low resolution. Searchable text depends on OCR accuracy; check important words and numbers against the page.

What stays up to you

After export, the file lives wherever you put it. If you save it to iCloud Drive or send it by email, those services handle it from then on. To keep a scan only on the device, choose On My iPhone (or On My iPad) in Files. Nescanner does not lock files with its own password; your device passcode and Face ID protect them as they do everything else.
